Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups beef broth or any meat broth
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp rendered bacon fat or butter
- Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
Preparation:
- Combine beef broth, ketchup, onion, rendered fat, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 to 1 teaspoon pepper in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, until the onion is soft.
- Remove the pan from the stove and let the sauce sit for 1 hour. Serve the sauce hot, reheating it before serving.
