Whole Wheat Brownies topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 250 g bittersweet chocolate, in large pieces
- 2 tbsp (30 g) butter
- 1 cup whole wheat flour*
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup cane sugar
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/4 tbsp. canola oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease a 22 x 33 cm baking pan.
Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler or heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, stirring occasionally.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, cocoa, salt, and baking soda.
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until smooth. Add the yogurt, butter, and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Add the chocolate and butter mixture and mix until smooth. Add the flour mixture and mix until combined.
- Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with nuts (optional). Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Cool completely in the baking sheet on a wire rack. Cut into 24 squares.
