Ingredients:
- 110 g (8 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted, plus extra for greasing the pan
- 2 cups quick-cooking oats
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 vanilla bean, seeds scraped out
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 egg
- Whipped cream, brown sugar, berries for serving
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease a 22x30 cm baking pan with butter.
- In a medium bowl, combine the oats and sugar, then pour in the milk. Add the vanilla seeds, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and baking powder. Add the melted butter and egg.
Chef's advice To scrape the seeds from a vanilla bean, slit the bean lengthwise with a small knife, open it, and scrape out the seeds with the blunt side of the knife. Place the empty bean in a container with sugar to flavor it.
- Then simply stir everything together to create a delicious oatmeal. Pour the oatmeal into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 30 minutes, until set. Serve warm with whipped cream, brown sugar, and berries.
