Sweet and spicy popcorn topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 0.5 cup popcorn
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 tbsp. maple syrup
- 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
- 0.5 tsp ground cumin
- 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- A pinch of chili powder
Preparation:
- Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over high heat and add 1 corn kernel; cover with a lid. Once the kernel pops, add all the corn and cover with a lid.
- Pop the popcorn, gently moving and shaking the pan to ensure even distribution of the kernels. Cook until the popping rate slows to 1-2 pops per second. Remove the popcorn from the pan to a wire rack set on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Season lightly with salt.
- In the same saucepan, combine the butter, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, cumin, cinnamon, and chili powder and stir. Cook over medium-high heat until the syrup begins to bubble. Carefully pour the syrup over the popcorn, let cool slightly, then transfer to a bowl, toss with tongs, and serve immediately.
