Pizza sauce "Marinara" topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 2 cans of 900g canned crushed tomatoes
- 0.5 cups olive oil
- 2 small onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, peeled and finely chopped
- 0.5 tsp sea salt
- 0.5 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 2 dried bay leaves
Preparation:
- Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 10 minutes. Add the celery, carrots, and 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and black pepper. Cook until all vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and bay leaf and simmer over low heat until the sauce thickens, about 1 hour. Remove and discard the bay leaf. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
Output: 1.8 l.
- The sauce can be made a day ahead. Let it cool, then cover and refrigerate. Reheat over medium heat before using.
